- By joining this forum, you are agreeing to obey the rules provided here to the best of your abilities or risk banishment from this webspace. Do not join if you do not intend to follow the rules.
General Behavior
- BE POLITE TO ALL PEOPLE ON THIS SITE.
Whether it's a staff member, fellow RP-er, or a disrespectful guest, these are all real people with feelings. Even if you disagree with someone, it is basic courtesy to show them politeness and civility, and we expect you to do so. Rudeness or fighting between members will not be tolerated. If someone is being rude to you, just call over a staff member. Avoid participating in the squabble at all costs.
- DO NOT DISOBEY STAFF MEMBERS.
We know what we are talking about, and we know our rules. You are free to ask for clarification, question our methods verbally, or discuss possible compromises, but it us who have the final say. If we ask you to make a change, apologize, or remove something, you are required to do so in the end. Outright refusal to abide staff orders will not be tolerated.
- PLEASE KEEP CONTENT APPROPRIATE.
Don't talk about your sexual activities, extreme violence, excessively curse, or discuss otherwise questionable topics in public on this forum. While you have liberty in how you express yourself, we may have members who are significantly younger than you and/or sensitive to such material. Please keep them in mind.
- PLEASE POST GENERAL QUESTIONS IN THE QUESTIONS BOARD.
By pming a staff member, you are limiting the number of people who can view both the question and the answer. To be sure the maximum number of people benefit from your question, post it in public when you can. This way, any staff member may answer and any members who have the same question may find their answer. The exception to this, obviously, is any private or very specific questions.
- DO NOT SPAM OR UNNECESSARILY BUMP POSTS.
If you choose to reply to a particular thread, your reply should be somewhat relevant and the thread should be somewhat active. Try not to reply to threads more than a month or two old (since the last active post).
Conflict Resolution
- SETTLE MINOR ISSUES VIA PRIVATE MESSAGES.
If you have a particular issue you need to discuss with another member, do it over a private message. Complaining in public will often draw crowds and form teams, making the problem worse than before.
- TALK TO STAFF IF YOU HAVE MAJOR ISSUES.
If your problems with another member have gone beyond simple subjects, please inform a staff member immediately. We have a no-tolerance policy for harassment and any troublesome situation can and will be solved quickly. We're here to keep the peace, and we will do whatever it takes to do so.
- DO NOT TAKE STAFF MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS.
Although we encourage members to answer questions posted by guests and new members, as well as pointing out grammar mistakes or minor rule infringements (using wolf speak, for example), if any major conflicts occur, do not try to settle them yourself. Alert a staff member instead. Your input may be taken poorly and make things worse.
Artwork, Images and Graphics
- DO NOT USE COPYRIGHT MATERIALS.
Make absolutely sure that, if you choose to use a photo or drawing somewhere on this forum, your image is: free-use, drawn by you, or you have explicit permission to use it on this site. Staff will delete copyrighted images from your posts and, being artists ourselves, we have absolutely zero tolerance for any sort of art theft.
- DO NOT USE ARTWORK OF AN UNKNOWN SOURCE.
To use artwork you absolutely must get the original artist's permission, even if it is simply a template, and provide credit. Some artists do not like their work being taken off-site, so always check with them beforehand. We take copyrights extremely seriously here so, when in doubt, don't use it.
- YOU MAY USE IMAGES THAT YOU DRAW YOURSELF.
Feel free to express yourself and show off your character. In fact, we encourage it!
- WHEN IN DOUBT, DON'T USE IT.
Just because there is a random drawing on Photobucket, that does not mean the artist wants or even allows you to use it. Look for explicit permission stating the image's use or ask for permission, and if it does not have one or you are not given permission, leave it and keep looking. This forum can very quickly be deleted if copyright infringement occurs and we will not be pleased if you are the cause. If you need an image that badly, request one from the artists here. We'd rather draw you something than have you steal.
- NO GRAPHIC/EXPLICIT IMAGES.
A little bit of blood is fine but do not post picture of excessive gore, foul language, or sexually explicit content. No exceptions. This is no place to show off porn or other raunchy images. Even if bits are censored, please keep them out of here, as many sexual and violent images do break the Proboards Terms of Service.
