Hey guys, I hope this is the right area to put this in I just felt like saying that on tuesday I went to my first furmeet. It was lots of fun and I met lots of cool people and some really great artists. Have any of you guys ever been to a furmeet? If so, have you ever made any friends that lasted? Or if not, would you want to go to one? Why or why not? Also, if anyone lives in the CA East Bay, then you should consider coming to the next one :3 It'd be really awesome to meet some of you IRL.

I've only been to Anthrocon, in terms of furry gatherings. But the North-East is strangely void of them, generally. Plus I don't exactly look for them... a little bit anti-social, not really a furry, lazy, etc. x3
Glad you had fun though. :3 I really enjoyed Anthrocon, but only because I always went with friends and spent most of the time making fun of bad fursuits and Otherkin. To ourselves, of course. I'm not a jerk. x3 But still, we went to the Otherkin panel and just sat there like 8|

I'm a terrible person, but I laughed hysterically at that. xD Mainly because I'm on the same boat as you are. Otherkins are just... wat. >8l Please make some sense! And bad fursuits... yeeah... They kinda got it comin', hence me joining "bad furs" on Livejournal and continue to be a terrible person by laughing some more. lD;
Anyhoo, in terms of a "furmeet", I did went to my first furcon here in Colorado. I... kinda was pretty bored most of the time. I did had friends with me, sure, and I did get some commission work done too, but there really wasn't a lot going on either. Really, anything worth the time is checking out the artist gallery. It didn't help that it was so pathetically small either. lD;;; Though, I wouldn't mind attending to the bigger ones out there someday. :3
It was awesome to know that you had fun! :DD

Lol, I've never been to any Cons, and I'm glad that I went to a meet first, to kind of get the feel of things before diving head first into a large group. I might go to YaoiCon this year though

I dunno. I don't think cons are a big deal. x3 As long as you have someone with you, they're nothing to be intimidated by. Lots of people to be friends with if you're not terribly quiet and anti-social like Kaylink and I were. x3
Still I had a lovely conversation with a Saint Bernard furry and a dolphin guy.

I went to Anthrocon with Avy, that's the only furmeet I've ever been to but honestly I'd love to go back! There was so much stuff to see, I'm not even a furry (I don't consider myself one, anyway) but it was a lot of fun, even though we did spend a lot of time snarking in the corner x3 Some of the suits were really amazing though, and there was a lot of great art (if you stayed away from the porn section). Plus I really wanted to buy a fox tail for my collection but they didn't have any >< I was very upset
BUT. Yes. Fun to go to if you have a friend. Alone and you may get overwhelmed by the creepy that pops up every now and then.

Teehee, we did a lot of snarking. x3 Remember Dolphin Guy boobcat? Wanted to commission us for a badge because he was bored of the one of his character wanking itself?
