- By joining this forum, you are agreeing to obey the rules provided here to the best of your abilities or risk banishment from this webspace. Do not join if you do not intend to follow the rules.
Posting
- THIS IS AN ENGLISH-ONLY FORUM.
Please do not join if you plan to post in a different language. While we have absolutely nothing against non-English speakers, this is a forum based on written communication and it is nigh impossible to do that when someone doesn't speak your language. This is a literate RP and you must have a fluent grasp of the language to get the most out of your experience.
- USE PROPER ENGLISH - NO WOLFSPEAK OR CHATSPEAK.
We expect you to write in a method that is coherent and easy to understand. Do not use massive amounts of chatpeak (goin 2 mall c u l8r lol) or any wolfspeak ("she stood uneasily upon her pillars, her sonars flicking from side to side and banner waving"). Type like you'd speak, please, just so that others can understand you.
- USE PROPER SPELLING AND GRAMMAR.
Proboards has a spell-check button, so please utilize it. As well, try and use proper grammar, such as capitalization, punctuation, etc. It can be hard to respond to a post that is full of errors. This is a literate RP, so sloppiness that breaks others' immersion is strongly discouraged.
- POSTS MUST BE AT LEAST 200 WORDS LONG.
That is roughly one average paragraph- very easily reached. Repeatedly posting one-liners or a very half-assed post will result in a warning. Feel free to make your posts longer (in fact, we encourage it), but please be considerate of people who have to read it! Not everyone has the time, energy or know-how required to respond to a novel of a post.
- DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN OOC AND IC.
Please mark whether you are switching from Out of Character text to In-character text, if only for clarity's sake.
- MAKE IT CLEAR WHICH CHARACTER YOU ARE CURRENTLY ROLEPLAYING.
Whether you simply color code text, add a note in OOC, or use a graphic or table, make sure people know which character you're using at the time to avoid confusion. It would help if you could include a picture or make a point to describe said character in your post as well. Members are not psychic, so make it clear whom you are using in your post, what they are wearing and what they are doing.
- STICK TO A ROUGH POSTING ORDER.
If you are role-playing with some people and one person becomes inactive, don't simply pretend their character isn't there. Unless that person makes a post removing their character from the thread, you should assume they are still there and do well to include them. Similarly, do not try and turn an open thread into one for just two or three people. If you want a closed thread, please make a new one marked closed instead of shutting others out when they try to join in. If you know that you prefer fewer participants, make a note in the starting post. That's all we ask.
Role-Playing
- DO NOT MIX OOC ISSUES INTO POSTS.
Even if you dislike a certain person, don't take it out on their character. This also applies for the reverse; don't bring in-character disputes out of character. This is a role-play, characters are separate from the people.
- DO NOT POWERPLAY OR GODMODE.
Powerplaying is essentially you controlling another person's character (Bill took a swing at Jeff, and smiled as his fist broke Jeff's nose). Give your fellow posters a chance to decide how their character reacts and whether or not an attack or other physical action actually effects them. Attacks should be left open-ended (Bill took a swing at Jeff, hoping his training as a boxer would help him land a hit). In addition, do not Godmode, or play or design your character to be invulnerable (Jeff had no problem dodging Bill's attack because he was super fast and could dodge anything). Your character can only dodge an attack 3 times in a row before you must let them get hit. No exceptions. Be fair and be reasonable.
- LIQUID TIME IS ALLOWED.
Characters may be in as many threads at a time as you can logically handle, but please don't abuse this. If we find threads are chronically dying, being forgotten, lost, or ignored, we will start limiting liquid time. So be sensible about this.
- PLEASE KEEP POSTS PG-13 WITH MINIMAL DETAIL ON ADULT ACTIVITIES.
While we understand many of our members will be older teen/adult, please keep in mind that this forum is not dedicated to sex or gore or what have you. Cursing, injuries, drugs, are all fine as long as they're not taken to ridiculous extremes. Please use good judgement, admins will edit your posts if we feel they are excessively profane/graphic. As far as sex goes, the same rules apply: mild descriptions are fine, however please do not go into crazy detail, this is not a forum built so you can get your rocks off. "Fading to black" when it comes to sex scenes is preferred, but not required. If your thread has adult themes, please mark them with an (M) for mature content.
