No New Posts Laws and Legislation

That's right. Like any good society, Norbrook Heights is governed by a code of behavior and ethics that everyone needs to follow. So make sure you read at least the threads stickied in this board. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

No New Posts Adoptions and Designs

If you find yourself with many many more characters than can easily be handled, feel free to re-post their bios here to be adopted by other forum members. This is also a great place to post supporting plot characters that may need to participate in an upcoming sub-plot.

No New Posts Visual Development and Illustration

If you do creative work in your free time, which a lot of us certainly do, and you'd like to show off anything visual that you have of your characters, by all means. Try to keep artwork, drawings, short stories, photomanipulations, poetry and so on relevant to the forum though. Don't show off your Sonic fanart.

No New Posts Morning Shore

On the east most tip of the Norbrook peninsula lies a long, crescent shaped area of shining white sand and glistening silver water. Morning Shore is vast, spacious, open year round, and includes a few beach-side vacation houses nestled into the nearby suburban foothills.

No New Posts Tonsickle High School

One of two Norbrook high schools, Tonsickle is the more respectable of the two. Though still full of its share of delinquents, as all schools are, being in the downtown district means it has a higher population of overachievers. It's unique for having an hour long lunch period where students are allowed to wander around town and buy food from anywhere.

No New Posts Suncrest Luxury Apartments

Lavish living for the financially secure, Suncrest is the city's most renowned set of apartment highrises. The tallest buildings in the city to catch all of the sun's rays, apartments here are spacious, usually involve a lot of windows, and the compound includes indoor and outdoor pools, recreation centers and heavy security.

No New Posts Lashton Memorial Hospital

An absolutely massive facility, named after the diseased son of Norbrook's founder, this hospital is the only one in the city. It specializes in maternity care and treatment of hereditary diseases. The center is a large courtyard for physical therapy, complete with river access for fishing and swimming.

No New Posts Grand Street Park

Grand Street is the main thoroughfare through the downtown area, and it is interrupted in the center by a long rectangular park. Large and lavish, it can take more than a day to wander from one end to the other and it's easy to get lost among the many fountains, courtyards, and forested gardens.

4 90
No New Posts Galleria at Forest Gate

A rather spacious galleria- outlet mall combination, it is the star attraction of the city of Norbrook. It's 6 floors of stores, shopping, food and events, and even has an indoor carnival near the food court with games, a merry go round and a ferris wheel.

2 107
No New Posts Club NightLife

As the name suggests, NightLife is one of the hottest clubs in Norbrook. It's a bit expensive, especially if you order food, but it serves not only drinks, but full meals, and is complete with tabled seating, private rooms and booths.

No New Posts Quetz's

A loud and boisterous gay bar located in the red-light district among some other famous night haunts. It's a very clean and tidy place until happy hour rolls around and the party really gets going.

1 19
No New Posts Station 22

Station 22 is the city's most well-known firehouse. It houses a rather large number of firefighters and is home to 3 trucks, 2 ladders, and 4 different rescue squads, including one set of Rescue Medics. Though there are other stations, this one is probably the most active due to its higher resources, so it welcomes and trains volunteers as well.

No New Posts The L

Down below Norbrook's bustling streets lies a pretty impressive subway system. There's a stop for most major streets and hang-outs around the city, eventually stopping at the transit hub. It's also, unfortunately, full of hobos.

No New Posts Green Ridge

Just outside of the downtown area, the foothills of the nearby mountains begin to lift residents skyward. Green Ridge is the largest hill within the city limits and is dotted by large, expensive, spacious houses and mansions. To get there, one must travel up a long, winding cliff-side road.

1 2
No New Posts Ryden Ai University

Often just called RAU for short, this large, university is nationally recognized for its specialties in engineering, scientific, and, surprisingly, creative fields. The campus is large, spacious, and luxuriously decorated, complete with both on campus and off campus housing. It's expensive to attend for anyone from out of town, but residents get a tuitional discount.

No New Posts Burheights

A large neighborhood of middle class housing, it sits in the shadow of the much more prestigeous Green Ridge. Housing here is still spacious, complete with yards and greenery, but it's very "average american family" in terms of design.

No New Posts The Moor

A high end night club nestled in a quiet spot in Suburban Norbrook. It's not a terribly well known location, and is therefore quiet, rarely crowded. But not for lack of fun, music or interest. Owned by Synther Moorhand.

No New Posts Soft Spot Cafe

Soft Spot and the neighboring clothing boutigues and antique shops are a nice, quiet place to spend a lazy suburban afternoon. The cafe is quaintly sized, with spacious but not abundant seating, reasonable prices on food and coffee, and even has a small computer station set up for those wishing to use the internet.

No New Posts Norbrook Rec Center

For all of those looking for a place to be active and have fun, the rec center is free admission and provides all sorts of available activities. It has a number of both indoor and outdoor basketball courts, outdoor tennis and racket ball courts, a number of baseball diamonds, and even a pool that is open during the warmer months.

No New Posts Market Outlets

The main attraction on suburbia's widest thoroughfare (which just so happens to be called Market Street), Market Outlets is a moderately sized outdoor shopping center for suburbia residents. It's the sight of the Norbrook flea market every summer, and also houses the local grocery store, pet store, hair and nail salon, and the local liquor store.

No New Posts Faith Row

A neighborhood of nearly identical row houses all centered around a small, cobblestone courtyard. Faith Row is notorious as being a great place for small families and couples just starting out. It's nice, a little cramped, but a very good deal. All of the houses are either 3 stories or 3 stories plus a basement or attic.

No New Posts Faith Street Church

At the top of the hill on which Faith Row sits stands a large church and cemetery. It is the main cemetery for the residents of Norbrook and, though it is a Christian church, everyone is welcome to visit. At night, it often doubles as a homeless shelter.

No New Posts GhostRunner Tavern

Norbrook's legendary bar, grill and eatery is located down the road from the local church. Supposedly, the building was once used as a morgue for the church and remodeling it into a tavern has stirred up angry spirits. But these are but legends. Most people who come here only find cheap booze, quaint music, and a friendly game of pool.

No New Posts Center City Townhouses

Center City is a rather sizey living community. It doesn't have much by way of security (just a stone wall and a mechanical gate), but the actual houses here are fairly nice for low-income housing- two stories, with anywhere from one to four bedrooms.

No New Posts Ravenhole

The last neighborhood before leaving Norbrook, Ravenhole is appropriately named. It is a dark, musty series of low income apartments and housing. Though in a state of serious disrepair, living here is cheap, so long as you lock your doors and windows to avoid break-ins. But the rooves don't leak (too much) and the area is frequently patrolled by police so... there are worse places to be.

1 4
No New Posts Foxwood Trailer Park

Just outside of city limits, lays the slummish hellhole of Foxwood. Started by a criminal gang, it's just outside of police jurisdiction, so it's a crime hotspot. But it's also the cheapest place in town to live, surrounded on all sides by trees and wildlife, a dirty lot dotted with small, filthy trailers.

No New Posts RC Drive-In Theater

Located at the top of one of outer Norbrook's many foothills, the drive-in is a great, inexpensive way for people to gather, socialize and maybe do a little bit of cheap romancing in the backs of their cars. It's a very popular place for high schoolers, both the savory and the unsavory kind. Bringing children is discouraged.

No New Posts Dunhollow Industrial

A large part of the outer areas of Norbrook has been turned into a massive factories district, full of smoke, smells and loud machinery. It's a popular place of employment for anyone from construction workers to refiners, scientists and engineers. But it is also popular with drag and street racers, who use the uncrowded roads.

No New Posts Westbrook Trainyard

Far away in the industrial district of the city, the trainyard is a great place to hang out if you want to get shot, mugged or high on drugs. Though the yard itself is heavily guarded at night due to thievery, the surrounding forests are usually littered with unsavory characters as police very rarely patrol this area.

1 29
No New Posts Slaughterhouse 9

Once an old abandoned slaughterhouse, it was gutted by local teens and turned into a low budget rave/nightclub/hangout. During the day, high schoolers hide out here to skip school, doing drugs and hanging out on the dirty furniture. At night though, this becomes the best party in the city. Free admission, all the booze you can drink and no cops. Well, not usually...

2 41
No New Posts Farmlands

Way out beyond the city limits, there are a small number of farms and their families doing their agricultural thing. It's not the easiest or most luxurious way to make a living, as the surrounding area is full of wild aggressive animals and criminals, but Norbrook needs its veggies.

0 0 No posts have been made on this board.
No New Posts Western Woodlands

The majority of the land outside of Norbrook is hilly, treacherous, animal-infested woodlands. Many people like to venture out here for a good hike or some camping, but it's a dangerous place to be caught alone, especially at night.

1 1
No New Posts The River Norbrook

The river that the town was named for is wide, long, and teaming with fish. Despite local pollution, the waters are clear and in most areas, the waters are relatively calm. Boating, fishing and swimming are common practices.

1 10
No New Posts Tuler-Norbrook Transit Hub

Laying somewhere between Norbrook and its neighboring town of Tuler is a large transportation hot spot. Mostly, it's a massive (if rather cramped and smoggy) airport with a train station in the basement, a bus station out front and a dock nearby for boat travel up the river. All those arriving and leaving Norbrook will make a stop here.
